East Haven Police Issue Safety Tips for Halloween

Police advise that children should be home before dark and never trick-or-treat alone.

Chief Edward R. Lennon Jr. and the East Haven Police Department recommend the following safety tips for their community members who plan to trick-or-treat the night of Halloween.

Halloween, which is celebrated on Oct. 31, falls on a Monday this year. While there are no designated trick-or-treat hours or curfew in East Haven, public officials advise that children should be home before dark and never trick-or-treat alone.

The East Haven community should also use caution as they celebrate the weekend prior to Halloween, Oct. 28-30.

"Please watch where you are going put down your phones this Halloween - this goes for both drivers and pedestrians alike," said Lt.Joseph Murgo. "In addition, trick-or-treaters should always watch out for cars that are backing up and never dart in between parked cars."

The East Haven Police Department recommends that residents follow safety tips outlined by the Centers for Disease Control, which ask that people follow the "Safe Halloween” motto.
