East Haven Residents Upset by Excessive Land Clearing: Report
Town officials say they are investigating the residents' concerns.

East Haven residents who live in the area of Bradley Street attended an Inland Wetland and Watercourse Commission meeting this week to express concerns regarding the owner of a wooded property cutting down a lot of trees, leaving some of the area empty, the New Haven Register reports.
Residents were able to ask questions, but were not able to discuss the property owner’s cutting with the commission because the town has not received a site plan application.
East Haven Mayor Jospeh Maturo, Jr. said a cease-and-desist order was initiated by the planning and zoning commission because they were “clear-cutting” instead of logging, the Register reports. Clear-cutting goes a step further than logging by removing the stumps and roots as well.

“In my own opinion, if the people of the community come out and oppose the project then it shouldn’t happen,” Maturo said via the Register.
