EAST HAVEN, CT — A wanted man with a fully extraditable warrant out of the United States Marshals Service was arrested after he was found to be in possession of a stolen car in East Haven on Thursday, police said Saturday.

East Haven Police Officer Anthony Fiorillo was patrolling Main Street with a police vehicle equipped with a License Plate Reader (LPR) when it alerted him to a possible stolen vehicle, police said. By the time Fiorillo turned around to catch up with the white Nissan Altima, it had pulled into the McDonalds parking lot, 687 Main Street, police said.

Fiorillo and Officer Fred Sego made contact with the driver of the stolen vehicle, Miguel Soto, 34, who was exiting the vehicle, police said. Through the investigation, it was determined that Soto knew the owner of the stolen vehicle, police said. When officers ran Soto’s name, they discovered he was wanted by the United States Marshals Service and had an active fully extraditable arrest warrant, police said.
