Man Thanks East Haven Firefighters “For Saving My Hand”

EAST HAVEN, CT - An unnamed man is thanking members of the East Haven Fire Department for making a complete recovery after a workplace accident.

The man sent a letter to Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli thanking the department for “saving his hand.”

The letter reads, in part: “To Chief Marcarelli,

“I almost completely severed my hand in an accident at my workplace.

“Among the first responders were Leo Calonico, Bobbie Ashton, and Andrew Carlson, all of whom I owe thanks for the work they did and for their professionalism.

“Without their quick work I would not have two complete hands.”

The chief posted the letter on social media, stating: ‘Nice work by a few of East Haven Fire Department personnel; Battalion Chief Andrew Carlson, Bobbie Ashton, Leo Calonico, Chris Guifoil, John Guilfoil, complete amputation of the victims hand a year ago today, he’s made a full recovery and took the time to send a thank you note.

‘Glad you are doing well sir.‘
