Moms United in East Haven Welcomes Area Mothers to Join

From Moms United in East Haven:

EAST HAVEN, CT - Moms United in East Haven/Mamas Unidas en East Haven is a non-partisan community group of mothers in the Town of East Haven that serve as a voice for other parents in the educational system. Our mission is to have learning opportunities for our children, transparency in our educational system, accountability for funding, and knowledge to empower parents to get involved in school system.

Objectives:

• We represent the mothers that do not know how to ask the right questions, or may have a language barrier that limits communication.
• We encourage civic engagement and participation in the educational system by attending educational meetings, forming alliances in our community and improving standards in education.
• We express our concerns about our educational system including:
  • Quality of curriculum for all children in elementary, middle and high school levels
  • Quality afterschool programs;
  • Hiring and evaluation of all levels of staffing;
  • Impact of quality early childhood education on later years;
  • Rights of special education children and their families;
  • Quality programs in regards to behavior modification policies, anti-bullying and supports for families;
  • Funding sources for children’s programming;
  • Communication/feedback loop with administrators; and
  • Summer enrichment programs and/or camp opportunities.
