Nominations Now Being Accepted For 'Prestigious' Mayor's Merit Awards
East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora's merit awards recognize people who demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, community spirit.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Joseph Carfora is pleased to announce that applications are now open
for the Mayor's Merit Awards, a prestigious annual honor recognizing individuals who
demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and community spirit. Award recipients are
nominated by fellow members of the community.
The Mayor's Merit Award celebrates residents of all ages in categories including Student,
Resident, Business, Senior Citizen, and Public Safety. This program shines a spotlight on those
whose contributions help make East Haven a better place to live, work, and grow.
"This award is about recognizing the people who go above and beyond for our town," Carfora said. "Whether it’s a student, a business owner, or someone who simply shows up for
their neighbors, we want to celebrate the spirit that makes East Haven special."

Nominations are open now and will be accepted until mid-August. To submit a nomination, residents can complete this online form. A QR code will also be shared across the Town’s social media platforms for quick access.
All submissions will be reviewed by the Merit Award Committee, made up of community leaders and volunteers. Final recipients will be honored during a special ceremony on Sept. 4, at Amarante’s to kick off the annual Fall Festival Weekend.
