Obituary: Barbara Baehr Kapusta, 93, of East Haven
An Air Force veteran who worked at the former Mammoth Mart store, she collected angels and bells, and loved puzzle books.
Barbara Baehr Kapusta, 93, of East Haven beloved wife of the late Edward J. Kapusta passed away on April 25, 2024 surrounded by her family at St. Mary’s Hospital. Loving mother of Nancy (James) Bradbury of Waterbury and Arthur (Irene) Kapusta of East Haven. Grandmother of Ryan Bradbury, Jacob (Abigail) Kapusta, Francis Belevich and Robert (Krissy) Belevich. Great grandmother of Harper, Zofia, Ellianna and Emersyn. Sister of the late Sister Adele Baehr CSJ and Carl F. and Arthur Baehr. Sister-in-law of Sandy Lastomirsky. Barbara is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Barbara was born in New Haven on April 2, 1931 daughter of the late Carl G. and Elsie Becker Baehr.
Prior to her retirement, Barbara was a cashier for the former Mammoth Mart Department Store. Barbara served her country faithfully in the Air Force. She loved to collect angels, bells and loved puzzle books. She never passed up cookies, candy and cheese puffs.

A special thank you to her aides, Susan and Vivian, for their care and companionship. Her nurse, Teresa, Dr. Marriott and nursing care at Yale New Haven St. Raphael Campus for their dedication for Barbara’s care.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven SATURDAY morning May 4, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends may call FRIDAY May 3, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital www.stjude.org or the Disabled American Veterans www.dav.org.
