Obituary: Javier Mallea “Harvey” Izaguirre, 79, of East Haven

Javier Mallea “Harvey” Izaguirre, 79, of East Haven a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024 with his family by his side at his home. Beloved husband of 52 years to Leona “Lee” Guzzo Izaguirre. Harvey was born on April 8, 1944 in Guernica, Spain son of the late Francisco and Eulilia Mallea Izaguirre where he served in the Spanish army as a sergeant. Loving father of Francisco (Trina) Izaguirre of East Haven, Rebecca (Chris) Kelly of Higganum and Kathleen (Joseph) D’Urso of Wallingford. Cherished grandfather of Isabela, Jacob, Sophia and Lucien. Brother of Rose Marie Izaguirre of Spain and the late Veronica, Abunido, Jose and Victor Izaguirre. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Prior to his retirement, Harvey was a courier for Royal Messenger Service.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven FRIDAY at 12:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 12:30 P.M. Inurnment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call FRIDAY from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
