Obituary: Joseph Concelmo, 85, of East Haven

A US Army veteran, he worked in family-run East Haven Cleaners and later in HVAC at Yale, and he enjoyed traveling to Florida and Italy.

Joseph Concelmo of East Haven passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Anna (Gambardella) Concelmo. Born in New Haven Ct on August 21, 1938, to the late Andrew Concelmo and Margaret (Gizzi) Concelmo.

Joe worked alongside his father Andrew, who owned and operated East Haven Cleaners until it’s closure. Then he began his career at Yale University where he worked on the heating systems and at the power plant. Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He enjoyed spending many winters in Florida and trips to Italy and endless hours keeping up his yard

Besides his wife, he leaves his three daughters, Margaret Fletcher, Nancy (John)Coughlin, AnnaMarie (Gary) Naylor, and a brother Peter( Patty) Concelmo. He is also survived by his eight loving grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Joe’s funeral procession will leave East Haven Memorial Funeral Home at 11:30am on TUESDAY March 12, 2024 for a 12 o’clock noon Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish- St. Vincent DePaul Chuch Taylor Ave East Haven. Calling hours will be prior to the mass from 9:30am-11:30am on TUESDAY. Burial will follow immediately at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Memorial contributions in Joe's name can be made to Connecticut Hospice 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford CT 06405
