Obituary: Lucia Colley, 62, of East Haven

Retired from Key Bank after 42 years, she enjoyed visiting Mystic and East Haven town beach, traveling with her daughter, and reading.

Lucia Colley of East Haven passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long and brave battle with cancer on Thursday March 21, 2024. Lucia was born in New Haven on December 14, 1961. She was the wife of the late L. Scott Colley. Lucia is survived by her loving daughter Marissa Colley (Steven McFetridge) of Mystic, her parents Anthony and Annina Ciarlo Guarnieri of Branford, her brothers Remo Guarnieri (Maureen) of Lakeland, FL, Joseph Guarnieri of Waterford, CT and her sister-in-law Carrie Carbone of Greenfield, MA, as well as her nephews David Carbone and Enzo Guarnieri and niece Abigail Guarnieri.

Lucia graduated from Stone School of Business with a Business Certificate. She went on to work at New Haven Savings Bank, now known as Key Bank, where she held many positions within the mortgage and secondary market departments. While there, she went on to graduate from the Connecticut School of Finance in 1994. Lucia recently retired from Key Bank after 42 years, where she was known for her hard work, dedication, compassion and creating lifelong friendships.
In her free time, Lucia enjoyed visiting her daughter and son-in-law in Mystic, CT, visiting the East Haven beach, traveling with her daughter, and being an avid reader. Lucia will be remembered for her selflessness, exceptional organizational skills, ability to create efficiency in every aspect of life, and of course, her unconditional love for her family.

Lucia’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital for their compassionate care during her final days.

Although we mourn the loss of Lucia, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with her late husband Scott and niece Heather Carbone. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00am at St. Therese Church of St. John Bosco Parish in Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 9:00am – 10:30am at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford.
