Two Men Arrested by EH Cops After Trying to Rob Dollar Tree Store
East Haven police arrested two men and charged them with robbery at the East Haven Dollar Tree store on Wednesday.
EAST HAVEN, CT - Two men were arrested after committing a strong arm robbery at the Dollar Tree, 32 East Frontage Road on 09/05/2018.
The incident began when a male suspect, later identified as Matthew Bannon (D.O.B. 02/22/1988) walked up to a register to pay for a beverage.
When the cashier opened the register Bannon reached over the counter and began grabbing at the cash. Several employees began struggling with Bannon who continued to grab at the cash. An employee reported being elbowed in the face by Bannon before he was able to free himself and flee the store.

Employees told officers he fled the store and got into a maroon Chevy operated by a darker skin male. It was unclear if Bannon made out with any stolen cash. Detectives with the Investigative Services Unit were able to obtain video surveillance footage from adjoining businesses and developed a suspect vehicle and partial plate which was broadcasted to neighboring jurisdictions.
A short time later, The New Haven Police Department spotted the suspect vehicle on Ferry Street in the Fair Haven section of New Haven and detained all of the occupants. Bannon and David Moore, (D.O.B. 08/17/1968) were subsequently arrested after they were positively identified by store employees.

Matthew Bannon and David Moore were each charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Robbery in the Second Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in the Second Degree. Both individuals were held on a $15,000.00 bond and faced a judge earlier this morning.
