New Principals At 2 East Haven Schools; Asst. Supt. Pact Extended

EAST HAVEN, CT - When school starts in East Haven later this year two new principals will be in charge at the town’s schools.

Chris Brown will be the new principal at Tuttle School and Laura Cretella will be the new principal at Deer Run School.

Cretella will be joining EHPS from Frenchtown Elementary School in Trumbull, CT with multiple years of experience at the elementary level, and certifications in remedial reading and special education.

Brown is an East Haven resident and parent who has 21 years of service in East Haven, most recently at the middle school but also DC Moore and Momauguin.

School officials said both of these individuals impressed the interview committee with their passion for students and extensive knowledge of teaching and learning.

At the same meeting, the school board voted to extend the contract of Assistant School Superintendent Jennifer Murrihy to 2021-2022, with a 2 percent raise.

Murrihy was hired in 2018 in East Haven when the former assistant superintendent, Erica Forti, was promoted to superintendent. Murrihy was formerly Stafford curriculum and instructional coordinator.
