VIDEO: Just Ducky! Easy Haven Firefighters Rescue Ducklings From Sewer
One minute they're waddling on their merry way, the next, ducklings drop into sewer (not rare in spring) then heroes show up for the save.
EAST HAVEN, CT — For the second time in a week, East Haven firefighters have made and assisted rescues of duckings-into-sewers. East Haven Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli notes, "It's that time of year."
Marcerelli was in Town Hall Thursday when a citizen told him about ducklings falling into the sewer near the Old Stone Church. Macrarelli radioed for firefighters to quickly move to save the duckings, with the mama duck "close by, keeping an eye on them."
Marcarelli said that firefighters found the Police Department's Chaplain, Rev. Mark Pilletere, Old Stone Church pastor, in tears near the sewer.

"The crew sprang into action and retrieved the ducklings rather quickly and returned then to their family," he said.

Marcarelli said less than a week ago, firefighters were asked to assist Animal Control Officers in rescuing ducklings from a Hemingway Avenue sewer.
Not the first time in that location, either.
