Voter Turnout In East Haven Far Exceeded Other Areas of State
In fact turnout for Tuesday's election rivaled the East Haven mayoral race in 2017.

EAST HAVEN, CT - While many towns across the state struggled to get voters to the polls Tuesday night, that certainly wasn’t the case in East Haven which had one of the most interesting mayoral races in the state.
In fact turnout for Tuesday’s election was on par with the East Haven mayoral race in 2017.
Joseph Carfora won the race with 3,865 votes, beating fellow Councilman “Big” Steve Tracey, who got 3,169 votes.

Independent candidate Oni Sioson finished a distant third with 292 votes.
Two years ago Republican Joseph Maturo won his ninth term, pulling in 3,657 votes to Salvatore Maltese’s 3,552.

Voter turnout was low statewide on Tuesday - in some cases less than 10 percent. As many races were uncontested.
