Woman, 28, Charged In April Hit-And-Run That Left Pedestrian With 'Serious' Injuries: EHPD

EAST HAVEN, CT — A 28-year-old East Haven woman used "evasive maneuvers" to get away after her car struck a man crossing Foxon Road last April, police said.
Described as a "serious injury hit-and-run," on April 8 at around 6 p.m., East Haven police and fire personnel rushed to Mill Street and Foxon Road for a report of a pedestrian struck by a hit-and-run driver. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Dhirendra Pun, suffered serious injuries, was treated on scene and then taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, according to East Haven police spokesperson Capt. Joseph M. Murgo.
The car, later identified as a Honda HR-V, sped away westbound on Foxon Road, Murgo said.

Surveillance video showed Pun crossing Foxon Road, east to west, when he was hit by a Honda HR-V, which sped away westbound with the driver, Murgo said, making a "a series of evasive maneuvers to get around traffic immediately following the crash."
Following an investigation led by East Haven police Detective Jon Trinh, Alexandra Lopez was identified as the driver, Murgo said.

After turning herself in to police, Lopez was charged with evading responsibility with serious injury. She posted a $25,000 surety bond and was released from custody, court records show. She's next due in court July 28.
