- It's that time again! Time for the Sixth Annual Conquer the Current Paddle Regatta in Essex. The event takes place on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It begins at Eagle Landing in Haddam and finishes downriver at the Connecticut River Museum. Race fees go to supporting the museumβs educational programs. Prizes are awarded in a variety of categories. Preview the schedule and register here. Hope to see you there! (theday.com)
- Get ready for a rocking weekend at The Kate (Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center), with A Brothers Revival (ABR). David βRookβ Goldflies, ABR band leader and music director, recorded and toured with the Allman Brothers Band and Dickey Betts and Great Southern. The show is running for two nights, Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30. (Patch.com)
- Congratulations to area students Jack Guthrie and Matthew Roscoe of Chester, along with Emma Kirck of Ivoryton and Dylan Champagne, Jaden Mack, and Joe Vogel of Higganum. All these students were recently awarded with scholarships from Chester Village West Foundation, Inc. for the upcoming academic year.
