🌱 Ninth Annual Chester Dog Fair Coming Up + Rare Moon on Aug. 30

1. Mark your calendars for the Ninth Annual Chester Dog Fair which is set to take place Sept. 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 11 Kirtland Terrace in Chester. There will be vendors, exciting demonstrations, food trucks and craft beer and wine, a microchipping clinic, lure coursing, doggie Olympics, nail trimming, live music and more. This event is Homeward Bound CT’s biggest fundraiser. All proceeds from this event go to funding large adoption events and Spay it Forward initiatives. $5 Admission is $5 per person and $10 per family. Hope to see you there! (Facebook Events)
2. Skywatchers take note! The Blue Moon of August 2023 rises this week, offering a spectacular treat. The Blue Moon will rise on the night of Wednesday, Aug. 30. According to Space.com, "Look to the east just after sunset to find it; it won't be difficult to spot given it will be the brightest and largest moon of the year. This moon is notable [because it is] not only a full moon, but it's also a Blue Moon, which means it's the third full moon in a season that has four full moons, according to NASA." Hope you see it! 3. Save the date for Boobstock 2023! On Sept. 16, starting at 1 p.m. at the Sobeiski Club in Deep River, the festivities will begin. There will be live music from five bands, raffles, picnic included and a cash bar. Proceeds will go to breast cancer patients at Middlesex and Smilow's Cignari Boutique.
