Here are the top three stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:
- The Town of Essex has received a substantial grant for Essex Court, senior affordable garden apartments at 16 Main Street, Centerbrook. The grant for over $1,500,000 will help to offset the cost of several upgrades including generators for all apartments, replace all storm doors and water heaters, expand the Community Room to accommodate more residents for social gatherings and update the aging Gazebo with a new pavilion that can be enjoyed for multiple seasons. The renovation for the Community Room will also include an outdoor access to the laundry room. Construction is set to begin in April. (Town of Essex – Government via Facebook)
- Looking for a new job or career change? The Essex Library is hiring! Join the talented team! The Essex Library Association is seeking a forward-thinking, tech-savvy, and creative team member who will elevate the library's communications, contribute to the library’s outstanding programming, and and serve at our busy circulation desk. - If you’re hoping to add a four-legged ball of love and affection to your family, start with these shelters in and around Essex-Chester-Deep River for a pet to adopt. A great place to begin your search is at Labs4rescue, where Gema the dog is waiting patiently, or another local shelter. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year round, many shelters also offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed in appropriate homes. With help from our friends at Petfinder, Patch has compiled this week’s list of animals available for adoption near you. Whether you’re looking for cuddles or companionship, one of these animals could be the perfect fit for your family. (Essex-Chester-Deep River Patch)
