Discover the timeless beauty of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese technique of mending and embroidery that transforms simple stitches into bold, geometric patterns.

In this hands-on workshop for adults aged 19 and up, Catherine Karp will demonstrate how to use Sashiko’s signature “small stabs” to craft intricate designs on fabric squares, perfect for decorative patches or embellishments.

All materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring something to mend. Space is limited, so registration is required. Register online or call the Library at 860-767-1560.

About Catherine Karp: I’m a former Montessori art teacher who can’t stop teaching. I work with a variety of ages groups in many different types of settings teaching sewing, mending, dyeing, printing, among other things. I live in Massachusetts with my husband. We have two grown boys who live and work in New York City.
