This year's theme highlights the American Revolution. All Winter Lecture Series talks are free and open to the public, held in beautiful Hamilton Hall at Essex Meadows, 30 Bokum Road, Essex. 
·The Series begins on Sunday, January 4, at 3:30 pm with the topic “The Powder Alarm of 1774” presented by J. L. Bell, author of the book The Road to Concord: How Four Stollen Cannon Ignited the Revolutionary War.

 <li>The series continues on Sunday, January 11, at 3:30 pm with the topic “The Burning of New London” presented by Eric Lehman, author of book Homegrown Terror: Benedict Arnold and the Burning of New London.</li>
 <li>The series concludes on Sunday, January 18th, at 3:30 pm with the topic "The Woman Who Printed the Declaration" presented by Dr. Emily Sneff, author of the forthcoming book When the Declaration of Independence Was News.</li>
</ul>
Doors open to Hamilton Hall for all talks at 3:00 pm. Seats are available first-come, first-served. Space is limited, so registration is requested for all non-Essex Meadows residents. Reading to a therapy dog has been proven to improve reading skills, self-esteem, and confidence in public speaking sessions. Kids are invited to sign up for a private 15-minute slot to read to and interact with local licensed therapy dog Louie the Labrador!
Essex Library programs are free and open to the public.

Program for kids birth – age 5.
Join us for a hands-on, child-led play session designed to engage the senses! Sensory Playtime encourages exploration, creativity, and early learning through touch, sound, and movement. Kids are invited to move from station to station, at their own pace, to scoop, squish, pour, and play with a variety of textures and materials in a safe, supportive space alongside their caregivers. This program supports sensory development, fine motor skills, and social interaction—come play, learn, and make a (little) mess with us!
Essex Library programs are free and open to the public.
