  3. If you've been hoping to add a four-legged ball of love and affection to your life, you should check out these Essex-Chester-Deep River area animal shelters for a pet to adopt. There are thousands of dogs, cats and other animals of all ages without a home in Connecticut and many are located within driving distance. Looking to adopt an adorable new fur child? A great place to start your search is at a local rescue facility. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year round, many shelters also offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed in appropriate homes. Need some help in your search? Patch and Petfinder have you covered. We round up a list each week of all the pets recently put up for adoption in your area. Whether you're a dog person, or if cats are more your thing, there are several great options available. (Essex-Chester-Deep River Patch)
