Here are the top three stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:

  1. March 29 is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The town of Chester is hosting a special Veterans Day Observance and Ceremony at the Chester War Memorial on Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. to unite, thank and honor Vietnam Veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice. Everyone, especially veterans are invited to attend. Hope to see you there! (Town of Essex – Government via Facebook)
  2. There is a proposal to cut the current .08-percent blood alcohol limit to .05-percent for drivers and boaters. According to CT Insider, "a 21-15 vote in the Transportation Committee last week indicates soft support in an effort to join Utah, currently the only state with the lower threshold for impaired operation of vehicles and watercraft. The bill goes next to the House of Representatives." (CT Insider)
