- Looking for a new job? You are in luck! Stop & Shop stores throughout Connecticut will be hosting a one-day, all-store career fair on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. According to a Patch article written by Chris Dehnel, "Applicants interested in a job can visit any of the supermarket chain's stores in Connecticut for an on-the-spot interview, officials said. The one day hiring event will take place at 111 stores across Hartford, New London, Litchfield, and Middlesex counties. Interested applicants who cannot make the one-day career fair can also apply online in advance at https://stopandshop.com/our-careers/." (Patch)
- The Essex Democratic Town Committee will be holding a summer send-off gathering on Sept. 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Surfridge Brewing Company in Centerbrook. Special guest Attorney General William Tong will be there, along with State Comptroller Sean Scanlon. Tickets for the event are $35. (Essex Democrats via Facebook)
- The Connecticut Department of Transportation will start a milling and paving project on Aug. 28 in Chester. The project is expected to end on Sept. 12. End of the project, with work hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. According to the Town of Chester Facebook page, "Rain days will be on Saturday and Sunday if needed. Chester DPW will be one of their staging and clean-out spots for both milling and paving. Milling will start on Aug. 28 at 6:30 a.m. around the area of Meadow Lane/ Route 154 in Chester and then make their way down to Deep River. Paving will start on Sept. 5 at 6:30 a.m., at the intersection of Meadow Ln/ Route 154 in Chester and then make their way down to Deep River." Plan accordingly! (Town Of Chester via Facebook)
