  1. Congratulations to Valley Regional High School Girl tennis player Natalie Novak who shifted her position this season from a doubles player to the No. 3 singles player. As luck would have it, Valley’s top singles player got injured early on in the season and couldn’t return to the court, bumping Natalie up to the No. 2 position. She embraced the challenge, reportedly earned an 8-2 record at her new singles position, and the Warriors’ team finished 11-3 qualifying for the Class M State Tournament. In addition, for the second consecutive season, Natalie made Second Team All-Shoreline. (Zip06.com)
  2. Eversource has notified the Town of Essex that additional tree trimming will begin in the area in July. If you have questions about the work or, as a homeowner wish to refute or modify the tree work that is being proposed you must contact the Essex Tree Warden and Eversource in writing. Tree Warden Augie Pampel can be reached at augiepampel@att.net or 860-388-7209. (Town of Essex)
  3. Tax bills in the town of Deep River will be mailed out today. If taxes are not paid by Aug. 1, the amount becomes subject to interest. (Town of Deep River)
