COVID-19: Everything You Wanted To Know, A Virtual Event In Essex

Viruses, vaccines and more with Dr. Paulo Verardi, via Zoom through the Essex Library, on Tuesday, June 15 at 7 p.m.

ESSEX, CT — According to a press release put out by the Essex Library, Dr. Paulo Verardi will present a talk about viruses in general and more specifically about SARS-CoV-2, including its origin, transmission, and variant evolution since the start of the pandemic in a virtual talk on Zoom for the Essex Library community on Tuesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. Verardi will also talk about the vaccine development process, as well as current and upcoming COVID-19 vaccines. He will be available to answer any questions you may have about COVID-19.

Dr. Paulo Verardi is an Associate Professor of Virology and Vaccinology in the Department of Pathobiology at the University of Connecticut, and an investigator at the Center of Excellence for Vaccine Research at UConn. He received a BS in Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, and earned a PhD in Comparative Pathology at the University of California, Davis. He joined UConn as an Assistant Professor in 2008. Dr. Verardi has a broad background in virology and immunology, with a particular interest in vaccine development. He has worked on vaccines for a number of human and animal viruses, including smallpox, AIDS, rinderpest, Rift Valley fever, Zika virus, and SARS-CoV-2.
