Concerned about the health and safety of the beautiful eagles that grace the shore of the Connecticut River during the winter season, the town of Chester has put out an informative message on Facebook about the dangers of lead in bullets from hunters and how this affects the eagle population in the area. 2. The Town of Essex has rolled out a new program to protect the residents and their property in the most effective way possible. Community Connect is a free, secure and easy-to-use platform that allows residents and business owners to share critical information that will aid first responders and emergency response personnel when responding to emergencies. 3. Perhaps Ben Franklin said it best, "In this world, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” A new report shows Connecticut residents have the second-highest overall effective state and local tax rate in the country. (Connecticut Patch)
