Here are the top stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:

1. Are you ready for Deep River Day Saturday! Come join in on the fun! The day will kick off with the 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. and "then head to Marvin Field, The Deep River Historical Society, downtown Deep River and the library for a whole lot of fun! Most activities will be held between the hours of 10 a.m.-2 p.m." The famed Costumed Pet Parade will take place at 1:30 p.m. down Main Street, then right on Union and back to Church Street and the final concert (Righteous Continental) will be in downtown Deep River at the former Citizen's Bank parking lot at 2:15 p.m. Later in the evening, fireworks will be held at Plattwood Park later in the evening. 2. The Connecticut Department of Transportation will be holding three upcoming public information meetings to discuss the Eastern Connecticut Corridor Rail and Transit Feasibility Study.
