Here are the top four stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:

The first week of the Deep River Farmers Market will be held Saturday, June 18 at 1 Church Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be several vendors, including The Nest, pottery makers, candle makers, jewelry, maple syrup, produce and more, along with musical entertainment with Tim Koski. It's that time of year in downtown Essex, time for the Annual Summer Arts Festival, which will be held on the Essex Green, June 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday June 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Works by New England artists in all genres will abound.   4. Ever wonder who the top paid state employees are in the Nutmeg State? Patch has compiled a list; UConn Health Center employees made up about 60 of the top 100 highest-paid state employees and the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services had about 20 of the top 100 spots.
