Deep River's Budget Passed, New Mill Rate Set

The town of Deep River's Budget has passed and the Board of Finance has set the new mill rate.

DEEP RIVER, CT — With 47 yes votes and 20 no votes, the Deep River budget for the fiscal year of 2021-22 in the amount of $19,279,257 was passed by a town vote on May 17th. Residents attended the meeting to vote, both in person at the Deep River town hall and remotely via zoom.

First Selectman Angus McDonald, said at the meeting, "It's great to see people out and in the room again."

The new budget represents an increase of $18,300,756 or 5.3 percent over the previous year's budget.

The Board of Finance set the new mill rate at 29.58, which is a decrease of .41 mills from the previous year's mill rate of 29.99.
