KNITTING: NOT JUST A HOBBY
Hannah Thiessen, author of “Slow Knitting” and “Seasonal Slow Knitting” will host a virtual
discussion of how knitting is a lifestyle, rather than just a hobby, for the Essex Library
community on Tuesday, August 24 at 7 p.m. Join in to hear more about the true depth of
finding your passion, embracing creativity in everyday ways, and finding meaning for skills
we've set aside. Through knitting and similar textile work, even "unartistic" people can link up with their creativity in new ways.
Hannah Thiessen is a freelance creative and social media marketing consultant with a specialty
in yarn and knitting-related business. Having worked with companies like Malabrigo Yarns, Bare
Naked Wools, and Shibui Knits, Hannah cares deeply about wool: where and how it is made into
yarn, and what it becomes in the hands of the knitter. She has dabbled in various textile-related
crafts from quilting and garment-making, to spinning her own yarns, knitting, and weaving. She
lives in Nashville, TN.
