  2. It was all-aboard Monday for guests to take the inaugural ride of the first M8 electric train on Shore Line East. The train, which runs from New Haven to New London, emits no carbon emissions and is faster and has more amenities for riders compared to the diesel trains. "These electric trains coming into service are an important milestone for Shore Line East," Gov. Lamont said at a news briefing at Union Station in New Haven Monday. "It is an improvement that has been long-awaited and has been delivered." (Patch)
  3. Ponds, lakes, rivers and oceans are all bodies of water and they are all dangerous given the right circumstances. As the mercury rose this weekend, Connecticut residents began to dip their toes in the water, unfortunately, it had a tragic ending for two people who lost their lives. Saturday, at Uncas Pond in Lyme, a 16-year-old boy was reportedly swimming with friends when he lost his life On Sunday, at Quonnipaug Lake in Guilford, a man in a kayak died trying to recover a lost paddle. There was a third incident on Sunday, which could have also ended in tragedy in Portland. However, in that incident, reportedly three good samaritans rescued the swimmer in distress at Great Hill Pond. (FOX61 Hartford)
