Here are the top three stories today in Essex-Chester-Deep River:

  1. As of Aug. 24 the Town of Essex will begin to digitize Land Use file documents. These documents will be temporarily taken offsite for scanning with the goal of making them accessible online. This process is expected to last several months, during which in-person access might be limited. However, specific files can be requested and digitized within two to three business days if needed. For inquiries and requests, the Land Use Department can be contacted at 860-767-4340. The town appreciates understanding as they work to enhance public service through online file access. (Essex, CT Government)
  2. The Parks and Recreation Department in Chester is gauging interest in pickleball among residents. They have scheduled a session for Tuesday, Sep. 5, at 10 a.m. at the North Quarter Park basketball court. During this time, they will set up a temporary court with a net and chalk lines and encourage interested individuals to participate, providing an opportunity to gather feedback from potential pickleball players. 3. Deep River Garden Club has partnered with The Deep River Historical Society to host a Fall Plant Sale. Pre-sale for plants will end on Sep. 8 and pick up for all plant orders will be on Sep. 16 during Deep River Day. Click the link to see what plants are for sale and a QR code to place an order.
