- Learn more about predators that live in your own backyard. The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center and the Deep River Library have teamed up to offer the program, "Predators In Your Backyard" which will be held on Monday, April 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. The program is being offered for to those who are 18 or older. - The Essex Egg Hunt will be held rain or shine, Saturday, April 1. If it rains, the egg hunt will be held in the Town Hall auditorium. Please note if the hunt is inside there will be two different arrival times. 10 a.m. Arrival time for families with children who are age 4 and under Beginning at 10 a.m. there will be two separate hunts one for children 0-2, followed by a hunt for children ages 3-4. 10:30 a.m. arrival time for families with children ages 5 and up. Beginning around 10:30 a.m. will be two separate hunts one for children 5-6 followed by a hunt for children ages 6 and up. If attendance is low, there may be only one hunt at 10:30 a.m. so please be on time." (Essex Park and Recreation via Facebook)
- Fund for Teachers grants have been awarded to Denise Dalton, the Valley Regional High School Library media specialist and Val Kropwinicki, the VRHS art teacher. Kropwinicki will be traveling to Norway this summer to investigate sustainability and art connections and Dalton will be traveling to Vancouver and Alaska to learn more about indigenous cultures and how culture impacts knowledge.
