- Although Lauren Gister, the former First Selectwoman of the town of Chester, has moved out of state to pursue a career change, her indelible impression of good-heartedness, professionalism and sense of community has been left behind for Chester, which is why the news of this longtime town resident's recent battle with lung cancer is tugging at many area residents' heart strings. In an effort to help keep their mom stress free right now, especially about finances, her daughters have started a GoFundMe page to help offset medical bill expenses. - The forecast is calling for great weather this weekend so why not take advantage of the Connecticut Summer at the Museum Program, which now through Sept. 4, is offering children 18 and under, plus one accompanying adult, free access to any participating museums free of charge. The adult must be a Connecticut resident in order to get in for free. Check with museums before taking a trip to see if they are participating in this program. (WTNH.com)
