Here are the top stories in Essex-Chester-Deep River today:

  1. It's almost that time again, time for Fourth of July Fireworks and although many look forward to this celebration of color, excitement and noise, some of our furry friends don't. That's why the Essex Animal Control Officer is reminding pet parents who have high anxiety animals to make sure that fences are secure, anxiety meds are filled and pet ID tags are updated with the correct information. Let's all work to make sure this is a great holiday for everyone, two-legged and four-legged! (Animal Control Officer via Facebook)
  2. According to a Valley Courier article, "Ben Costanzo garnered All-Shoreline Conference First Team accolades for the second-straight season as a junior on the Valley Regional boys’ lacrosse team this spring." Costanzo has been perfecting his lacrosse skills and strategies since fifth grade when he first picked up a lacrosse stick. According to the Valley Courier, "Ben served as the Warriors’ full-time starting faceoff specialist as a junior this year. He won 250 of the 340 faceoffs that he took on the season. Ben credits the support that he gets from his teammates for helping him make it this far. Ben says that his teammates, who he calls his brothers, are always guarding his back." Congratulations Ben!(Zip06)
  3. For the past 16 years, the Ivoryton alliance has been organizing and putting on The Annual 4th of July Ivoryton Parade and Patriotic Presentation. This year the special event will be held on Monday, July 4th at 10 a.m. at Ivoryton’s Main Street. The parade, filled with a wide array of community members and organizations will be followed by a brief ceremony on the Ivoryton Green. Parking will be available at several marked locations in the Village. See you there!(The Ivoryton Alliance via Facebook)
