- It's blueberry picking time at Scott's Farm in Deep River. Mid-July through August is prime blueberry picking time, and Scott's offers a pick your own option. Take advantage of this beautiful weekend weather and pick yourself some plump juicy blueberries. (Scott's Farm via Facebook)
- Tri-Town Animal Control requests the public's help in finding the owner of a French bulldog. According to the Animal Control Facebook post, the dog appears to have been cared for and was located on the grounds of the Essex Steam Train in Essex at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 9. The dog was not wearing a collar. If you, or someone you know, is missing this French bulldog, or you know whose dog this is, please contact Animal Control at 203-780-1311 or 860-767-4340 x 160 as soon as possible. (Facebook)
- Valley Regional High School rising senior Colin Carver had a stellar spring season on the mound and helped the Warrior's baseball team in winning several games. Carver, who the Valley Courier referred to as a "talented pitcher," has been playing b-ball since he was very young, inspired by Derek Jeter. According to the Valley Courier article, "Colin finished his junior season with a 1.20 ERA and 60 strikeouts, throwing a no-hitter in a 15-0 win versus East Hampton on May 16. He also posted a .405 batting average to go with 6 home runs, one of which came in Valley’s 15-1 victory over Plainfield in states. That game also marked one of Colin’s best pitching performances of the 2022 campaign." Congratulations Colin! (Zip06)

- Chester CT Historical Society: "Do you remember our Creative Challenges of the past? Like when artists and other creative people made prints, jewelry, sculptures out of items like old hooks from the Brooks factory, and scraps of red velvet from discarded Meeting House stage curtains and (last year) metal building squares from a vacant farm property. This year, our 10th Creative Challenge is based on scrap oak boards and hand-forged iron nails from the Meeting House floor of 1793 (which was torn up in the winter of 2020). All the info about the Challenge is on our website, chesterhistoricalsociety.org, and at the Chester Museum. Check it out!" (Chester CT Historical Society via Facebook)
- Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau: "Check out Magic Camp at Essex Library Association for kids grades 5 through 12! If you missed the first one, that's a-ok! Abracadabra! Registration is required for July 23, so be sure to call the listed number! " (Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau via Facebook)
- Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau: "Do you have what it takes to be a mentor to youth? Check out our latest newsletter to see if you do! If we're being honest though, our neighbors in Deep River, Essex, and Chester DO have what it takes!" (Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau via Facebook)
- Essex Library: "Get no-cost meals for kids under 18 all summer! The CT Summer Meals Program is federally funded by the USDA and state-administered by the Connecticut State Department of Education. endhungerct.org/services/summer-meals." (Essex Library via Facebook)
