"We all love our special unique town and want to keep it clean from litter and other debris that affects our roadsides, parks and open spaces. In an effort to beautify our town we are planning a town-wide cleanup day. We are asking volunteers that may have some extra time to meet at the Chester public town-owned parking lot, on Water Street, in Chester at 9 a.m., on Saturday, April 24th. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled to the next day Sunday, the 25th of April, also at 9 a.m. Designated litter pickup areas will be assigned that morning, or participants can pick other areas in town.

Attendees and volunteers are asked to wear sturdy comfortable shoes, bring and use protective gloves, and a bright-colored outer garment for recognition while helping pick up litter on the street sides in town. If anyone has a “pick-stick” (A stick with a nail protruding from the end) you may bring it along to help in securing individual litter items. We are providing large plastic bags and will designate locations where litter pickup is especially needed. The bags of litter will be picked up by the town Department of Public Works following the event.
