History Is Re-Opening In Deep River
After a year hiatus due to Covid-19, the Deep River Historical Society is happy to announce it will be reopening in June.

DEEP RIVER, CT — Deep River Historical Society will be opening its doors for the first time in over a year on June 6th from 2-4 p.m. A bevy of new and refreshed exhibits will be on hand for this special event.
According to Rhonda Forristall, curator of the Deep River Historical Society, there will be new and exciting exhibits in every room to honor the grand re-opening.
"We have been working over the last year to refresh and rearrange exhibits to make more sense and to be more attractive to visitors. There will be a scavenger hunt for those to look a little closer at history. New videos will be upstairs with a film of the gliders in flight and the lace machines in action. Downstairs there will be a slide show presentation of Notable Women of Achievement from the tri-town area. This three-part series encompasses women who have made a difference in our community from 1900 to 2020," said Forristall.

She added, "We are thrilled to finally open our doors to share these amazing exhibits and show off our hard work. None of this would have been possible without the grants from CT Humanities and the Community Foundation of Middlesex County."
Admission to the Historical Society is free and the hours have changed due to Covid. Now, the Society will have open hours on Thursday mornings (especially for seniors) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and for families on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m.

"Now that the Governor has loosened [Covid-19] restrictions, I hope this will encourage everyone to come and visit us," said Forristall. "We have created a clean, safe environment for our visitors, our volunteers are all fully vaccinated and we hope this helps people to feel comfortable visiting us."
