A Walking Tour of Essex Village Sunday, July 25, at 5 p.m.

History hits the streets! Join your friends and neighbors as EHS brings back its popular Walking Tours β€” a chance to learn about historic neighborhoods with knowledgeable guides.
On Sunday, July 25 at 5pm, please meet at the Foot of Main Street, Essex, (at the entrance to the CT River Museum) for a trip down Main Street in Essex Village to capture the rich maritime history of 18th century β€œPotapaug.” EHS’s knowledgeable guides, Brien Riedell and Mike Kaczorowski, will help you understand the history of Essex’s working waterfront and ship-building prominence in the early 19th century as well as its development as a beautiful visitor destination of today.

$5 per tour; free to EHS members. The general public and families welcome. Each tour lasts about an hour over fairly level terrain. Perfect for life-long-learners and those who like a little exercise with their history.

To maintain social distancing, the tour will feature individual audio devices with disposable earpieces so you can hear all of the stories and fun facts from your guide – without straining to hear or getting too close to your fellow walkers. These easy-to-use devices are funded in part by the Community Foundation of Middlesex County. EHS has been using these devices with school and adult tours and they prove to be excellent!
