  1. The owner of the Old Lyme Ice Cream Shoppe will be closing the doors for the very last time on Aug. 31. Retirement is calling 70-year-old owner Angie Reale, who won a Golden Cone in 2017 for her Moroccan Rose flavor. Reportedly she is not certain what she will do next. An art gallery will be taking over the space at 34 Lyme Street. (CT Insider)
  2. Mark your calendars now for the arrival of the lobsters in Chester on Sept. 9, for the Rotary Club of Chester's 52nd annual Lobster Festival. Take part in the annual celebration of friends and family while enjoying live music and a delicious meal. Stay tuned form more information regarding tickets, times and location. Ivoryton Playhouse's 'Jersey Boys' musical opens today and will run through Sept. 10 with performances on Wednesday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. and evening performances Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. According to the CT Insider, "Audiences will be transported back in time to the swinging 1960s, captivated by the timeless story of four blue-collar boys from New Jersey who skyrocketed to fame as one of the greatest pop bands ever," according to a press release. Featuring hits from the legendary Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, "Jersey Boys" is described as "a journey filled with heart, soul, and the unmistakable sound of an era that defined a generation."
