Marijuana And Teens; Time To Talk

This is National Prevention Week and Mental Health Awareness Month.

ESSEX, CHESTER, DEEP RIVER, CT — This is National Prevention Week and Mental Health Awareness Month so it is very fitting that Tri-Town Youth Services is talking about Marijuana.

According to a recent email message, from Tri-Town Youth Services, teens (and adults) who experience stress and anxiety sometimes turn to marijuana to unwind or relax. This pattern of behavior is worrisome for teens whose brains are still developing and habits are in the process of hard-wiring. The reality is that over time marijuana- like other drugs- can cause physical dependence.

If you're concerned that your teen may need to use marijuana to cope with everyday tasks, or if you realize that their cravings and anxiety increase when marijuana is not available, help is available. Visit Tri-Town's Substance Abuse Prevention Page for Local Resources.
