A Message About Covid From Essex's Emergency Management Director

ESSEX, CT — In an e-mail to community members, Lisa Lisa Fasulo, Director of Health and the Emergency Management Director for the town of Essex updated residents about Covid, masks and vaccinations. The e-mail read;

"The CDC recently updated its guidance for fully vaccinated people, recommending that everyone wear a mask in indoor public settings in areas of substantial and high transmission, regardless of vaccination status. Middlesex county is now an area of substantial virus transmission and masks are required indoors for vaccinated and non vaccinated individuals. The Town Hall is requiring that all employees and visitors wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Businesses are strongly encouraged to require masks and "Masks Required" signs are available at the Town Hall.

Please help protect yourself and your neighbors by resuming the precautions of hand washing, sanitizing and masking – hopefully a little extra caution will halt this rapid spread and we can prevent any future negative impact to families, schools and local businesses.

If you have not yet been vaccinated, it is strongly recommended to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Dozens of clinics across Connecticut no longer require appointments to receive a vaccination, and it has never been easier to get one. Individuals with questions about the COVID-19 vaccination program or who would like to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine can visit ct.gov/covidvaccine.
