Migration Madness In A Town Near You This Weekend

Have fun and take part in the Connecticut Audobon's Migration Madness event going on this weekend.

ESSEX, CT — Looking for something fun to do with friends and family this weekend? Why not participate in The Connecticut Audobon's Migration Madness 2021?

Founded in 1898, the Connecticut Audubon Society operates nature facilities in Fairfield, Hampton, Milford, Pomfret, Sherman, and Old Lyme, and an EcoTravel office in Essex. It manages 20 wildlife sanctuaries encompassing more than 3,300 acres of open space throughout the state and educates over 100,000 children and adults annually.

When is it: May 14, 15, 16. The Birdathon starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, May 14, and ends at midnight, Sunday, May 16. You can participate for as much time or as little as you want.

How to participate:

Who can participate: Anyone who loves birds! All skill levels are welcome. Last year, 67 birders submitted checklists. They saw 199 species. Tina Green of Westport saw the most: 175. But the median number of birds was 40, and 18 people submitted lists with fewer than 30 birds. And those folks had just as much fun!
