Money For Essex's Ferry Street Rebuild Approved
Future plans are to raise the roadbed of Ferry Street, to help with flooding in the area and put in a sidewalk.
ESSEX, CT — At the September 22, Special Town Meeting, the supplemental appropriation to the 2020-21 Town of Essex budget, in the amount of $100,000 to Capital for sidewalks (Ferry Street Rebuild) as recommended and approved by the Board of Finance, was approved.
First Selectman Norm Needleman explained that at the current time, there is no specific plan or engineering for the project, however, now that the money has been approved, the town will be working on a formal plan and will be consulting with property owners in the area.
The prospect of the project is twofold; one is to raise the roadbed of Ferry Street to lessen the effects of flooding in the area, and the second is to install a sidewalk on the west side of the street to be used by residents and visitors.
