- The wet weather and high humidity this summer have created a perfect storm for mosquitoes in Connecticut. Reportedly nine towns have had mosquitoes test positive for the West Nile Virus. According to WFSB, "The East Shore Health District is advising residents on how to protect themselves: Minimize time spent outdoors around dusk and dawn, use mosquito repellant containing DEET, eliminate standing water on your property and empty out any plastic pools, garbage cans or anything that collects water." (wfsb.com)
- Only two towns in Connecticut made the 100 Best Small Towns In America list and Essex was one of them. Coming in at number 85, the town of Essex was highlighted for its historic homes and waterfront beauty. Congratulations Essex! (Patch)
