  1. Mark your calendars for National Drug Take Back Day, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Drop off locations are at each town's town hall. (essexct.gov)
  2. A Haddam resident was recently arrested in regard to a dog abuse case. Twenty-seven-year-old Josephine Marie Ragland of Haddam was charged by detectives from the North Reading, Massachusetts Police Department for running a dog training service that led to the death of a family’s dog in Massachusetts. According to Eyewitness News, "Ragland was hired online to train a French bulldog, Charlie. Ragland and the Hanson family had a deal of $1,500 to train Charlie for two weeks. He was supposed to be returned on Sept. 16. Ragland admitted Charlie died but claimed he was hit by a car." However, the dog's necropsy proved otherwise. "Ragland was charged with larceny of over $1,200 and obstruction or misleading police. Both charges are felonies." (Eyewitness News 3)
  3. Heads up Essex residents! Eversource has begun work to replace three tower structures in town. Residents near these sites will hear the construction activity. As the autumn season progresses and leaves begin to fall from trees, sounds may be heard from greater distances.
Construction hours are typically 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Completion is expected by November. This work will not interrupt your electrical service. (Town of Essex)
