- In an effort to ease the pain at the pump Connecticut residents are currently experiencing, legislative Republicans in the state are calling for Connecticut to suspend its gross receipts tax on gasoline until July 1 and for the federal government to suspend the 18.4 cent tax on gasoline. Combined, the suspensions would cut 44.8 cents per gallon from the cost of gasoline. (Patch)

- The April 9, Connecticut Shoreline Fire Departments Food Drive will mark the 10th year the Fire Departments have teamed up with the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries to host a one-day food drive. The one-day collection of non-perishable food for shoreline residents in need will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various locations throughout the shoreline and tri-towns areas. (Digital Journal)
