Weather permitting, work is expected to begin July 19th and be completed within 2 weeks. A speed limit of 15 mph will be posted. Many of the roads on the list will receive 2 coats of chip seal (1 coat per day). These roads have been selected due to cracks and deteriorated areas. This new surface treatment will extend and preserve the durability of the road.

Please pay attention to work zone signs and flaggers directions. DO NOT drive over the fresh black oil because it will adhere to your tires along with the stone. Until the roads are swept, loose stone can cause significant problems for riders, runners, and walkers. Driving too quickly will cause loose stone to get tossed in the air and create dust, limit visibility, and do damage to vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians, for these reasons, please drive SLOWLY. Do not exceed 15 mph until signs have been removed. Roads will be swept 7 to 10 days after the Chip Sealing process and the posted 15 mph signs will be removed.

In the past, the Town used a larger 3/8-inch stone for Chip Sealing. We are now using 1/4-inch stone because it has a smoother finish surface which is more acceptable to pedestrians and cyclists.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience during this time and appreciate your patience while we improve Town roadways.

Thank you,

Ryan Welch
