  1. Heads up area residents! Due to road work, Veterans Way in Deep River will be closed to all traffic from Thursday, Aug. 17 through Sunday, Aug. 20. Plan accordingly. (Town of Deep River)

  3. Tragedy struck over the weekend. Eighty-one-year-old Qiuhua Gua of Madison died during a canoeing accident Saturday morning while in the Hammonasset River. The canoe she was in overturned in the water. According to a Patch article written by Chris Rhatigan, Gua was in the canoe with three people, and they were part of a state park-led guided canoe program. (Patch)
