- Government 101 with Christine Palm is happening tonight at 7 p.m. at the Essex Library. Palm, State Representative from the 36th District, will be on hand to answer questions about state government and the legislative process as well as offer a step-by-step presentation on how to access your state government and get the information you need. During the presentation, Palm will take you through the entire process of how a bill makes its way through the legislature, from its introduction into the committee process to floor debate and voting on the House and Senate floors. She’ll also show you how to navigate the General Assembly’s website, read bills online, and sign up to testify on bills in front of committees. By demystifying what can sometimes seem like a convoluted and daunting process, you’ll be encouraged to make your voice heard on the issues you care most about. (Essex Library via Facebook)

- It's here! Connecticut has its first official case of documented Monkeypox. According to the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) the infected man is from New Haven County and is between the ages of 40 and 49. The NBC Connecticut article states, that according to DPH the man is isolating and has not been hospitalized. “The United States is currently experiencing a monkeypox outbreak, and there will likely be additional cases in Connecticut in the weeks ahead. Monkeypox can spread through close prolonged contact with an infected person. This might include coming into contact with skin lesions, or body fluids, sharing clothes or other materials that have been used by an infected person, or inhaling respiratory droplets during prolonged face-to-face contact," said DPH Commissioner Manisha Juthani, MD in the NBC Connecticut article.
